There's something about a fence post. It's like a wooden, gnarled, weather-beaten time machine asking you to come closer. If you lean against it and look out at the distant vistas, it can transport you as if by magic. It can allow you to form a world like you wish or wished it to be, at least in your mind, and that's where all dreams take root and grow.
Your future might not happen exactly like you envision. In fact... it probably won't. But it gives your heart a direction to aim for, like a compass leading through a strange new world, and all you have to do is take that first step.
You might say, "What if I imagined wrongly, or what if I don't make it to where I wanted to go? Or what if I get there and it isn't what I thought I wanted at all? What will I do then? Wouldn't it have been better to not dream at all and stay safely where I am?"
And I'd say, "Don't worry, you'll make it, but if you don't, just look around for a fence post, lean in, dream a new dream that sets your heart on fire, and away you go." =]:)
