Ghost Trees

When it gets extremely cold here in Yellowstone, the trees take on an eerie look, especially at dusk, and we call them, "ghost trees." When the rime from hydro-thermal mist accumulates on the branches of trees, then combines with falling snow, the trees take on an appearance of ghostly figures.

When the sun begins to set, and you look out at the trees, you will sometimes swear you see human forms gathering in the forest. It can send a chill up your spine, and not just from the cold temperatures.
